Lutron Somfy and both offer tubular motors for raising and lower internal motorized shades for Windows. Lutron sells the engine and the shade and sell all Somfy just the engine that can be combined with an awning. Both companies also sell controls (wall switches, remote controls and interfaces) which are used to operate their respective engines.
In the late 90s, Lutron introduced QED (Quiet Electronic Drive) that coupled with his own brand of blinds (blinds for most). The product is of great waves to be virtually silent. It was a classic example of redefining parameters of competition in an industry. Somfy manufactures two types of "quiet" engine, a version AC powered (ST50) and more recently a version DC powered (ST30). Lutron QED Motors are all low voltage DC motors.
