Shades Motorized – Somfy Lutron Vs – QED and Sonnessa

Somfy Lutron Vs – QED and Sonnessa

Lutron Somfy and both offer tubular motors for raising and lower internal motorized shades for Windows. Lutron sells the engine and the shade and sell all Somfy just the engine that can be combined with an awning. Both companies also sell controls (wall switches, remote controls and interfaces) which are used to operate their respective engines.

In the late 90s, Lutron introduced QED (Quiet Electronic Drive) that coupled with his own brand of blinds (blinds for most). The product is of great waves to be virtually silent. It was a classic example of redefining parameters of competition in an industry. Beforethe Lutron advent of quieter engines, consumers do not even know that the level of engine noise was or become a factor in their shadow or motor motorized blinds buying decisions. It in the last two years has Somfy (almost) caught silence QED. Today, there is still a difference, but it's really light and most consumers do not consider it a factor.

Somfy manufactures two types of "quiet" engine, a version AC powered (ST50) and more recently a version DC powered (ST30). Lutron QED Motors are all low voltage DC motors. Difference between AC and DC, it is the first high voltage while the second is at low voltage. AC Power is the same as the received power to connect a cable to a standard wall outlet. Low voltage is supplied by the same jack, but the cord has a transformer (think of a cell phone cord or a power cord computer with their boxes on the sheet in the middle of a rope – which is a transformer) and reduce or "demolish" the high voltage received from the outlet low-voltage supply. One of the main reasons that the DC power is important is that fewer problems arise in the building code and no electrician is necessary for low voltage wiring systems powered. In the absence of wiring costs by an electrician, and complexity of work are both significantly reduced.

The QED is available in three different sizes called QED64, and QED100 QED225. The figure is a gross tonnage area in square feet of fabric as the engine is designed for lifting. For example, the QED64 can raise a shade up to 8 feet x 8 feet, can raise QED100 a shadow 10 feet x 10 feet and can lift a shadow QED225 up to 15 'x 15' – what engine size is only very rarely necessary for residential applications. These are only approximations, in the field, these engines are known to actually lift more of these numerical values imply. The size of the engine affects its diameter determines the diameter of the tube that the engine uses. QED64 Lutron uses a 1 5 / 8 "tube, uses 100 to 2 ½ "Tube and the largest 225 uses a 3 1 / 2" tube. tube diameter is especially important to determine the width Motorized blinds can be no flexing (Arrow). A bent tube means that the fabric will not run properly. The fabric will sag causing wrinkles, it is not acceptable. engine size is So much on the width shade because it is the lifting capacity.

Somfy motors alone, known as the line Sonnessa also use sizes different tube. The ST30 uses a 1 1 / 2 "tube, the ST50 can use a 2" or 2 1 / 2 "tube *. The lifting capacity of ST50 falls somewhere between 100 and 225. For very large applications, has the largest Somfy motors, but so far, they are not in the Sonnessa (calm) the range of products. It is very rare that more than one engine is ST50 required for indoor applications. This is true even if multiple colors are driven by a single engine.

Both the QED and Sonnessa engines have proven reliable options for motorized blinds and both come with 5 year warranties.
