Stopping your heart by the pure power of the will?
I'm curious about an idea I had, triggered by an event in a James Bond. Now I know you think something like: if it is in a James Bond, that is probably not possible. but this idea is not so much on the event itself, but an idea that I concocted, based on the event. the reason I say is in Die Another Day, where James Bond goes into cardiac arrest, to leave the hospital. Now, my interpretation of the event may or may not be accurate, but it is not the point. My question is whether or not it is possible to stop the heart, or placing themselves in cardiac arrest by sheer will power. Another reason why I ask this question because I've heard of people who die by the loss a will to live, and I heard people living situations they have lost their lives by having a strong will to live. Thus, I believe, a stronghold for people living and dying. So the question remains …
In theory, you can increase vagal tone and this lslow Wil beat your heart … potentially stop. Vagal tone may be increased by pressure on the eyeball or increased pressure in the neck / chest – holding your breath. It is therefore possible to learn to slow your heartbeat. to stop it completely would be the next step, but I can not say I know personally know someone who did.
