I Love French Wine and Food – A Touraine (Loire Valley) White
If you are looking for French wine and fine food, why not consider the region of the Loire Valley in central France? You can find a bargain, and I hope you have fun on this tour wine education fact-filled in which we review a white Sauvignon Blanc-Chardonnay from Touraine in the eastern part of the region.
Among the eleven France wine regions of the Loire Valley ranks third in the total area devoted to vines. As the longest river in France of the Loire runs for 620 miles (a thousand kilometers) across the country, in many respects it could be considered as a series of regions. Here they are running from west to east: Nantais whose primary grape is the white Muscadet, Anjou-Saumur whose primary grapes are the white Chenin Blanc and the red Cabernet Franc, Touraine whose primary white grape is Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc and whose primary red grape is Cabernet Franc vineyards and whose principal Central white grape is Sauvignon Blanc and whose primary red grape is Pinot Black. We intend to examine at least one wine from each of these four areas.
Chambord is home to the largest of the castles of the Loire, built as a hunting lodge of François I in the early sixteenth century. Many people think that Leonardo da Vinci was responsible for the original design. The statistics of this French Renaissance hunting lodge are stupendous. There are 440 rooms, but unfortunately a simple stack 365. How would you feel to be assigned to a room without a fireplace? The wall of the property is 20 miles (32 kilometers) enclosing a thirteen thousand acre (52 square km) of forest. The story goes that the emperor wanted to divert the Loire to create a gap, but wiser prevailed and he had simply divert the river Cosson. Each time he visits, he took twelve thousand horses to bring all her stuff, they had to transport all the furniture and all food except for game. It was estimated that over the years he actually spent a total seven weeks. During the French revolution, the castle floors were sold for timber and the castle doors were burnt to keep people warm during the sales. This castle is now owned by the government.
Before reviewing the Loire wines and imported cheeses purchased from a local wine store and a local Italian food store, here are some suggestions of what to eat with indigenous wines when touring this beautiful region. Start with Rillettes (Coarse Pork Pate). For your second course savor Lapin in Vouvray (Rabbit with Onions, Shallots, and Vouvray). And for dessert, treat yourself to the Apple Pie Jam Chinon (Apple Pie with Chinon Jam).

Cheverny Blanc wine review VV (Terra Vitis) 2005 12.5% alcohol about $ 15
I do not know why but the usual marketing materials are not available. I consulted the website of the producer who offered the following bla-bla – translated from French by Google. Cheverny Blanc Vines old women resulting from the marriage of Sauvignon and Chardonnay are collected manually at maximum maturity in order to release aromas constant and a long powerful taste to be useful between 7 and 8 degrees accompanied by fish sauce, Jacques scallops, snails. Whaaat?
Did not anyone tell Google that VV (Vieilles Vignes) means old vines and not Old women Vines? Here is my rapid translation: Cheverny Blanc Vieilles Vignes (wine) comes from Sauvignon (Blanc) and Chardonnay (grapes) that were hand harvested at full maturity to bring out their aromas and persistent aromas. Serve between 7 and 8 degrees C (44-46 degrees F) with fish sauce, Jacques scallops, or snails. Honestly, I prefer to review wines to translate documents. And that's what I'm doing next.
My first meal was spaghetti wheat whole house with a tuna, red onion, garlic and Greek olive sauce that started with a commercial tomato spaghetti sauce. I doused on a lot grated Parmesan cheese. The wine is light, refreshing acid and slightly sweet. It was lemony with a taste of honey. When I finished glass after the meal, I felt the wine improved.
The next meal consisted of grilled chicken breast prepared Commercially, rice and eggplant side. The Cheverny has begun between the low and light, but later regained strength. Is interesting to note that was there when paired with eggplant grilled tomato.
The final pairing involved an omelet with provolone cheese local and Greek olives. The wine was a bit authoritarian, but short. Since I had a little left I paired with an ice cream coated of high quality chocolate bar. The wine was nice and sweet and a pretty good game, at least initially.
The first cheese pairing was with a cheese mild Italian Pecorino Friulano. They made a good couple, the wine showed a lot fruit and pleasant acidity and was rather long. The cheese was second pair with a cheese Edam energetic Dutch. The results were quite similar, but the wine was really flat.
Final verdict. This wine is best with food rather bland and as such is too expensive. At a much lower price, it would be worth buying again. I really expect more at this price.
