What determines if a car is a sports car
Ask any sports car is and they'll probably invent response. Ask a dozen different people the same question and they will probably give a dozen different answers. There are a variety ways to define what constitutes an actual sports car. In the absence of standardized definitions available in the industry, the term "Sports car" is meaningless to some.
Originally, it was easy to distinguish between a sports car and production car regular. If an ordinary person could buy, it was not a sports car. Sports cars were toys for the very rich and auto-obsessed. They are also used primarily in situations that represented a radical departure from conventional behavior. The road races, rallies and other competitions have been the home of the sports car manufacturers and designers competed, testing new developments in technology and innovative ideas.
These sports cars were almost always designed for a single pilot and no additional passengers. Sometimes, a "co-pilot" seat would been added. The notion of a back seat makes little sense given the purpose for which the cars were used. They tend to be very small and exceptionally faster than most cars produced regularly.
This historical moment has given rise to a concept sports car that survives today among many car enthusiasts. These traditionalists consider a car a sports car as if is a two-seater designed for racing.
