You should consider the length of the bat. Find a bat which will be long enough. It should come to your waist from its tip on the ground as you stand straight.
The weight of your bat will determine how powerful your hit is. You should choose the bat with a weight you can used to. You should make sure that you can swing the bat at ease making a perfect hit. It doesn’t matter whether the bat is heavy or light. What matters most is the quality of the play your bat will give you. You should not also think of the price. Expensive bats do not always mean that they are better than the cheap ones. You should control the bat so the worth of the bat will depend on your performance during the entire game.
The top part of the bat is called barrel. You should take into consideration the size of the barrel. A standard barrel of a softball bat is 2.3/4 inch in diameter. The choice of the size should give you comfort in playing of the softball game plan.
A taper of a bat is the diameter of its handle. Standard bats have taper of 31/32 inches. It can be smaller depending on the weight of the bat. Most players prefer this kind of bat because is easy to handle.
Grip refers to the covering on the handle of the bat. The handle of the bats may be covered with leather or synthetic covering. Some have rubber covering. Leather and synthetic covering can ensure a firm grip while rubber covering absorbs the shocks from the hit easily.
