Test Compression Gauge rises and then slides down, why?
Made a compression test on my vehicle 2.4L 4 cylinder. As I am start the engine cold compression test gauge would go up about 165 pounds per square inch, but when I leave the contact gauge does not freeze at a given value, but slides back down. He was on four cylinders. I have not quite let down zero, but I suspect it would've – because it kinda has a – from the time I left the seat in front of the car, it was slippery PSI last 20 years. Sooo .. . Compression test failed (in a store I will not name, cause I like 'em)? 1999 or my car enough with only 150k is a bit of "park"?
the needle in the compression tester could be shot or defective. perhaps a joint ring wrong?
