What ever happened to there being a time limit in pro wrestling matches?

That is a good question. I actually like the time limit in wrestling matches. The WWF did not use the time limit like WCW did. When WCW was around, for the TV title there used to be a 15-minute time limit for the match. There was a great match between TV champion Steve Austina and Bobby Eaton where Eaton could only win the title if he pinned Austin in the first five minutes of the match. He hit Austin with an Alabama Jam leg drop from the top turnbuckle and pinned him for the win. But he won at the time of 5:01 of the match which meant he missed by one second!

The WWF used to implement time limits especially during the King of the Ring qualifying matches which was broadcast on free TV and Monday Night Raw. However, I guessed Vince McMahon dropped it all together as an idea. Too bad, because the time limit produced some great drama to wrestling matches, especially if there was a title on the line.
