The precipitation appears to increase just after a lightning strike. Imagination?
Or is there Phenom weather I do not understand?
It all depends on the storm. The lightning and thunder of dark clouds, most of the time preceding the storm front. Therefore it is always as dark as the storm clears up as the storm progresses, although it is always violent. It may rain before the lightning, but lightning will strike at several times before the rain starts to fall. So, your observation is correct.
