NBA: Were the following players to stage a material MVP or best in the league?
Were the following players, stage equipment MVP or the best league in their first? If your answer is yes or no, please give a reason in detail why please thank you Baron Davis Mookie Blaylock Penny Hardaway Vin Baker Shawn Marion Stephon Marbury Steve Francis Jermaine O'neal Latrell Sprewell
Baron Davis – Baron has this potential and showed he could play 2 different styles. His first played with the Hornets team that was primarily a team of half-field defensive, then excelled with Golden St. run and gun running. Golden St. took a huge hit when he left. What kills is that he is injury to risk, but when healthy he is as good as the elite PG in this league and he plays defense to boot. YES to the Baron. Mookie Blaylock – Mookie had a tough task when it came to NJ to Atlanta to replace Doc Rivers as the Hawks next good PG Mookie has always been an incredibly good defender and a marker underated. It is truly one of the best PG in the 90's that will underated with guys like Mark Jackson, Rod Strickland, and others. However, I do think Mookie has never been MVP hardware and never had the status of being the best in the league at his position. John Stockton, so eclipsed every PG in the era of Mookie. Not to Mookie, but I respect him a lot. Penny Hardaway – One of the best young talents I've ever seen is Penny Hardaway. It was the new age of Magic Johnson. He could pass mark, and rebound and play a game very good position for a goalkeeper. Before the advent of Kobe Bryant it was Penny who was the next big thing and then the injury destroys what should have been a hall of fame career. Instead of Kobe – Lebron argument plauge this site that we should have played on Penny vs. Grant Hill, but fate was cruel. YES Penny for sure he had evidence MVP him. Vin Baker – Vin was a 4 time all-star, most people forget that. He has some good years and the numbers looked good at times but for some reason always something missing in his game. The Bucks knew him and traded for Terrell Brandon in a 3-way deal that sent Shawn Kemp to the Cavs and Wine Seattle. Wine has been just over a reader's block. It had more displacement position than most guys today, but Vin has never been considered a high-flying PF in a league that had Malone, Barkley, Kemp, Rodman, Webber, the next Duncan and Garnett. Wine is more in this CATERGORY Christian Laettner had some solid years and is a solid player at a time, but never the material greatness. NON-Vin Baker Shawn Marion – I think that Shawn Marion is a very overated player. Some would kill my saying that. Look at my point on Baron Davis playing in 2 different systems and with success. Unless Marion is on a run and gun team, I think that diminishes its value big time. The Suns have a great achievement for him as the Mavericks be this year, but Marion seemed to be his place in Miami. The truly great players in this league to adapt to any situation. NO to Marion. Stephon Marbury – When Marbury was drafted debate between him and Iverson was enormous. Some felt that Marbury playing outside the university was more refined and the first 2 years in the NBA he was. Marbury has always had with any jurisdiction worldwide, regardless of what we think of him but with him it is mental and he could have helped, while Penny and Grant Hill could not help their injuries. Marbury with the Wolves Garnett gave their first Team Legit real, then disaster struck and Marbury as cancer could not be controlled. It has become apparent that wherever he left it were better and that more than a blow to his enormous ego. NO to Marbury, Marbury is a self-destructive personality and found a way to hurt several franchises, something tells me he never had the mental capacity for the NBA. Steve Francis – Stevie Franchise. As a fan, there were times that you hated him and the time you've loved. It is just another guy on the long list of players who could have benefited from staying in school beyond its first year of college. Amazing ability, but never a refined set of PG's. He has played more like a SF of a sub-PG and never had a fantastic rider who has started to become an issue once Yao Ming commanded many double teams. Injuries also Steve killed, but he had plenty of time to excel in this league and has always been about being a PG high fly and never got there. His ability to rebound from the PG spot was surpassed only by Jason Kidd in his time. Steve to my eyes, was killed like so many others when he was sent to the Knicks, who were then a black hole. If you went there you kiss your career goodbye. His mojo was party to 28 years with untapped potential. Steve was the best player on a team, 500 were on the rise, but was better when it is away. This does not make you look at Steve as a real game changer. To be in CATERGORY we are discussing, you must be a game changer. NOT THE Steve Francis Jermaine O'Neal – Another guy who peed Away 4 years of his career when he had gone to university and refined itself. There was a time a time when Jermaine was one of the first flight centers behind Shaq, of course. Jermaine is a solid 20 and 10 guys every night. Replacement Rik Smits were large clown shoes to fill and to consider the situation Jermaine has done well and kept the Pacers afloat in the East Reggie Miller with a decline. In 04 of the Pacers were 61-21 and O'Neal has been considered for the MVP. So to answer your question. YES Jermaine was worthy. All this being said Jermaine had a soft label and its value is now nowhere near what it was, but Jermaine was a solid player in this league for a decade and came close to winning the MVP. YES TO Jermaine O'Neal Latrell Sprewell – choking incident side and my hatred aside Latrell has always been a consistent player. He recorded a ton of minutes, for the most part, has always been healthy, he was an advocate above average and a great slasher. He completely changed the dynamic of the Knicks in 99 and his performance in the playoffs alone in these series would have got him MVP, considering how Ewing was eliminated for the season. Sprewell helped the Knicks hold of fading on the map another couple of years. Even New York fans and the media loved him, they would always furnaces Allan Houston and Latrell got away scott free because he played hard. In 2004 KG had the merit of making wolves and won an MVP conted, but how successful the Wolves this year's Latrell. He has played second fiddle much and this time he was 33 years past his prime still holding good numbers. Regardless of what everyone thinks of him personally each team he goes to his best with it, be on the floor, it says something. Imagine if there was not a head case, but I ask you this question. After the choking incident, he became an elite player. Maybe once a player really learning a lesson. YES TO Latrell Sprewell.
