Beach Pelicans

Beach Pelicans
And how was your day?

So here I am, sitting on a beach in S.W.Florida-just observing. People-the sand- the dunes-the dwellings behind me, wondering who lives in there, what their lives are like. The pelicans are flying and swooping, crashing into the Gulf of Mexico, lifting their heads and gulping their dinner- taking off again to do it over and over. Gulls wheeling overhead, sand pipers running from the gentle surf, wind-surfers and motor boats and in the distant sky, parasailers. Buoys bobbing on the water- the absolute calm water of the Gulf- and far, far away and yet so near, the beckoning horizon where dark green water meets blue sky-calling for the sun to come down and make more beautiful the view- by dying. It’s December 26th, 82 degrees, a cool calm wind, beautiful. And I fantasize about swimming way, way out there to meet the dying sun, and join it. And how was your day?

…average…sigh
sometimes I wish something exciting would happen..
