How to install anti-virus software if you already have a virus?
I re-installed Windows XP yesterday and did not an anti-virus software. Now I have this red anti-virus thing (Personal Protector), which prevents me from going into Safe Mode, and that downloading AVG. Is there a way to trick this thing let me download anything to get rid of it?
Simply re-install XP, but this time, the first thing you should do is check that Windows Firewall is "on". Then the 2nd thing you should do is to go to Windows Update and get all Windows updates up to and including Service Pack 3 (SP3). Therefore, your recently re-installed XP has been infected so quickly! The United Nations updates and unpatched XP machine is a malware magnet! To access Windows Update, open Internet Explorer and click Tools then Windows Update …. You'll probably need to keep going back to the time several Windows updates until what you get up to SP3. Keep going back! Its going to take some time. Only once your firewall is on and you have a fully made Windows update and updated it will be safe to venture onto the Internet to install anti-virus software! but AVG is a bad solution to low detection virus and no anti-rootkit protection. For your Anti-Virus …… I would say Avast. Avast now includes anti-virus, some anti-spyware capability and anti-rootkit components. And all for the low low price of free.
